Reaching Agreement

The best reference design is created by determining the highest priority brand requests, understanding the basis of each engineering requirement, and finding compromise between the two worlds. For example, to find a charging solution that met new performance standards without looking “techy,” it took two months of testing solutions with all teams to create our (now patented) pogo-pin charging rings – 1st row, 3rd column.

Avoiding Favoritism

With over 10 brands to account for on a given platform – some with overlapping styles, some with completely unique styles – creating a comprehensive reference design requires understanding the seasonal and overall desires of each brand to facilitate proper differentiation and expression for all.

Helping Hand

Given time constraints and lack of familiarity with CAD tools, I often step in to assist in the creation of designs or the adjustment to meet engineering specs for brands such as Emporio Armani, Diesel, Misfit, and Michael Kors.
